A full system service tune up will help detect any problems inside of the heating and air conditioning system.
A fool system service should be performed once a year on all heat pumps, furnaces, and air conditioners.
I’ve had a few tune-ups performed on the equipment in my home. I know I should have the full system check performed more frequently, but I often forget. This year I decided to have the service performed in may. We had a really hot weekend and the air condition has struggled to keep up with the demand. I thought it was a sign to have a full system check performed. When the service technician performed the tune-up on the heat pump and AC system, I honestly didn’t expect to hear bad news. After all, the air conditioner was working when the technician arrived. I was surprised to hear that the system needed $500 worth of repairs. The number seemed really high considering the machine was still working and producing cold air. The service technician gave me an estimate for the fees and told me to call if I wanted the work performed. The tune up seemed to help the system for a short amount of time and then I started having even more problems. A month later, I finally broke down and decided to get a second opinion on the heat pump and AC system. Although the second estimate was lower, the repair technician did agree with the first person that looked at the equipment. The guy was surprised the system wasn’t experiencing more malfunctions given the problems.
