During the Winter time weeks, it’s nice to have many ways to heat my house.
I do not mind living up north where it’s consistently frigid during the Winter time weeks.
I prefer ice and snow and I care about frigid temperatures to hot temperatures. I do require a good heating plan in order to be comfortable. When I purchased my new house, I enjoyed the fact that it had a fireplace and an electric heater. Although electric heat can be more costly than gas or oil, it is far more reliable. Electric heating systems last a long time. I also have a fireplace in the kitchen. The fireplace is undoubtedly large in size and it can absolutely keep most of the new home with the bedroom doors open. Last weekend the temperatures were close to single digits and I was severely frigid in the house. I had the electric furnace running, but I also turned on the fireplace. I sited a couple of logs inside of the granite hearth and I lit a match. The logs started to burn after all of the small pieces caught fire. I sat in the kitchen for a long time reading a book. I did not even need a blanket over my legs, because the fireplace provided plenty of hot air. Before I went to sleep, I sited a couple of extra logs on the fire and I put the gate up in front of the wood. I prefer to go to sleep with the fireplace running, but I always make sure the fire is safely tended before I retire for the night.
