He and my mom had been together for 2 decades, and they seemed to have run out of time. So, they chose to part ways, amicably, and start their new lives. My dad always wanted to live in a lake house by this beautiful lake that is in our area. But, mom wanted a bungalow in the suburbs, so that is where we lived for many years. Finally, after the divorce and all the kids living their lives, it was time for dad to do what he wanted with his life. And that was to buy a lake house and a boat. My kids love that lake house, and we make it a point to visit him often, especially when the weather is nice so they can go fishing. We also visit during winter. Last winter, dad was having troubles with the heat in his lake house. He’d hired an HVAC business in the area for assistance, and they sent an HVAC worker to take a look. The guy claimed he’d sorted out the issue, and left when the heating unit was running well. However, two days later, it was back to emitting little heat to keep the lake house warm. Since my spouse is an HVAC technician, we decided to drive there one weekend and sort out this issue for dad. It turns out there were faulty parts that needed to be replaced before the heating unit was good to use again. I also took a space heater for dad to use in case that ever happened again during winter.
