James has one heck of a story to tell his kids one day.
His life now as an adult is a complete miracle considering his life growing up.
While other kids were born into nice suburban homes, he was born in a crack house on a dirty floor. His mom was an addict, and he was born with drugs in his system. Not knowing how to take care of a newborn, she walked into a hospital and left him there. James would later get adopted, but things took a toll when he was a teen. He fell in with the wrong crowd and began to abuse drugs and alcohol. His adoptive parents tried to help him, but eventually, he landed in prison after getting caught committing a crime. He got clean thanks to this prison pastor who mentored him in jail. James began taking classes, getting his GED, and training as an HVAC technician while in the joint. When he was finally released, he managed to get a part-time job while going to school to become a qualified HVAC technician. His adoptive parents were still in his life and so happy to see his life had turned around. Today, James is one of the most sought-after independent HVAC technicians in his home area. Despite having a rough start, he is proof that anyone can change the narrative and live a better life. As a way to give back, he is mentoring other kids and people in prison while encouraging them to train as HVAC technicians. So far, he has two more former inmates working with him as he strives to build an AC repair and servicing business.
