As a kid, I loved watching TV.
- My favorite shows were about science and technology.
Now, many people might call me a nerd, but that’s exactly who I am. I still love books and watching such shows that explain things. I actually had the best science projects for many years, much to the envy of my classmates. We were living in a small town, and there was nothing much else to do than watch TV. I’d come home from school, make myself a snack, and watch until my parents got home from work. Later, I had to choose a career, and got an idea to try the HVAC industry. I was watching a show where they had an HVAC professional explaining the idea of heating and cooling. A viewer had sent in a question about how HVAC systems worked. So they brought in a HVAC professional to explain the process. He did an excellent job, and also spoke about his job. When mom and dad got home, I announced I was going to become a HVAC professional. I graduated high school and went to live with my aunt in the city so I could attend college. The local institute in her area was offering HVAC courses, and it was like the universe was conspiring to make me live my dream. It’s been 6 years since I started working as a HVAC professional, and the best thing happened to me the other day. I went for a HVAC service call, and there standing at the door was the presenter who hosted the science show I loved so much as a kid. Funny how life works out. I fixed his faulty AC and we got to talk so much about the influence he had on me as a kid.
