Replacing a stove and changing the ductwork

I grew up in a big family where we always cooked.

My mom would do the main cooking and we would help with the ingredients.

Whether it be cutting the vegetables for a stew or putting herbs in, my mom always liked when we helped her. She thought it was important that we know how to cook. When it came to my dad cooking, he would mostly do the grilling. My mom would call him the master griller since he made the perfect marinates for meats and grilled vegetables. I carried my family’s cooking traditions to my own family many years later. I use my kitchen at least two times every day. I like to make breakfast and dinner for my family. I consistently use my oven every day and since it was much older I figured that it would break down eventually. It ended up breaking down on me last week so I had to purchase a new oven. My husband is pretty handy and he knows how much I cook so he decided to install a hood above my stove. However he needed to change out the ductwork. He had to remove the old stove, and the metal duct pipes below the countertop. My husband said that he didn’t want to use the old ductwork for the new stove. Therefore there would be some holes in the wall from the old piping, he was unsure how to cover the holes. We called my brother in law who is an HVAC technician for some assistance since he works with ductwork all of the time.
