Harvest time

September is here and that means that summer is almost over.

It is time to begin thinking of all the chores that come with the season.

One of my favorite things is harvesting the garden and going apple, plum, and peach picking. I pride myself on canning fresh fruits and vegetables for the winter and although it is a lot of work, my family always loves the taste of the home made items. There is nothing better than sauce made from scratch on a cold winter night. If you have ever canned, you know that you have a pot of boiling water on the stove all day long. I am very thankful that we installed our central air conditioning a few years back. Prior to that, I think I would sweat out two pounds at least each season because my house felt like a steam room each year. Now, I can relax in the cool dry air while chopping, peeling, and jarring, Fall also reminds me that it is time for my annual HVAC maintenance appointment. When we installed the system we signed a service agreement. This allows us to have the system completely tuned up for a set fee. Our technician is great and he always makes sure that the filters are replaced and there are no leaks in the system. Your home HVAC system is a valuable investment. You need to make sure to care for it just as you do your automobile. Most people take their cars to the shop on a yearly basis to have them tuned up so you need to do the same with your HVAC system. Our technician is great and somehow always shows up on a day when he can take home the added treat of a fresh jar of sauce or homemade jam or jelly.
