We live in a world where people have a legitimately skewed view of basic needs.
If you ask everyone, they include several things like electricity, cellphones, and even a/c as “basic” needs.
I remember taking a class in high school that focused on “wants vs needs”. This seems like it would be a legitimately simple class however it was more interesting that one would think. My friend and I studied the evolving thought process of humanity and their perception of a want or a need. Take for instance those who fled war torn Europe after the world war, one of their basic needs was freedom. If you ask a mother while in the depression the same question she may have said food for her children. This week’s humanity is legitimately different. My friend and I now live in a world where things like electricity, scrub water, and food are taken for granted, then don’t get me wrong, I adore living in my own cabin with all the comforts that come with it. When it is ninety degrees, I too, would agree that my Heating and Air Conditioning system is a basic need. I dislike to be hot and hot however when I suppose about those who live in regions of the world who have never even heard of a/c and have to rely on fires for heat in the winter. I can simply adjust my control equipment and be comfortable. My friend and I are legitimately spoiled in our humanity with what my good friend and I might call creature comforts. I am thankful for them indeed. When I consider what is legitimately a need or a want, I know that I don’t “need” my a/c units, but, I do “want” them for sure.
