High velocity heating and cooling system for older home

It raises or lowers temperature very quickly

Because my house was constructed during the 1800s, it presents some challenges. While we’re thrilled with the hardwood floors, big front porch and gorgeous stairway, we’ve had difficulty handling heating and cooling. The ceilings are high, the windows big and there’s no conventional duct system. When we first moved in, we looked into having ductwork installed. This would require tearing down walls and ceilings and creating a huge mess. Plus, some of our walls are built too narrow to accommodate full-sized ductwork. We tried getting by with window air conditioners in the summer and electric baseboard heaters in the winter, but the house felt uncomfortable just about all year round. The assortment of equipment was not only ineffective but unattractive. A couple of years ago, an HVAC contractor told me about high-velocity heating and cooling. This type of system is designed to retrofit into older homes without creating damage. It uses specialized mini-ducts that are only two-inches in diameter. They are flexible and able to be threaded into existing walls and around plumbing pipes and electrical outlets. The installation causes no mess. The mini-ducts link to circular-shaped vents that are just six-inches in diameter and available in a wide variety of styles to blend into the decor. Plus, they offer versatility in location. A high-velocity system sends heated or cooled air into the rooms at a very high rate of speed. It raises or lowers temperature very quickly. The shorter run times and smaller, insulated ducts reduce energy consumption and keep costs low. We are delighted to have centralized heating and cooling.
