When the people I was with and I first moved into our house, everything was old… Although all of the appliances were operational, I was sad to substitute the oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, washing unit and clothes dryer… I looked forward to installing new plumbing fixtures, including shower heads, faucets, toilets and vanities.
Although the oil furnace and cooling system were more high-priced tasks, I knew the investment into higher efficiency device would help to save us money on our weekly energy bills.
The new heating and cooling systems also gave the chance to take advantage of zone control. Initially, there was a single thermostat located in the family room. To adjust temperature, the people I was with and I needed to manually turn the dial, but every adjustment affected the entire house. There was no way to single out rooms that periodically recognize hot and sticky or too chilly. The two of us were forced to spend our money to heat and cool empty rooms. The new method includes thermostats in each room that control dampers in the ductwork that direct the flow of air, however we’re able to customize the temperature through an app on our smartphones. The teenagers can set the temperature in their home office to their preferences, however setting up programs makes it so the oil furnace or cooling system automatically adjust according to our schedule. Plus, these thermostats send reminders to schedule repair and substitute air filters. The two of us take better care of the oil furnace and cooling system, spend less on our utility costs and have reduced our environmental impact. There is less wear and tear on the oil furnace and cooling system. Plus, the new systems are better at maintaining typical humidity and filtering contaminants out of our breathing air.
