Have you been to a major concert before? It’s 1 thing seeing a band in a small club or a bar, or even in an outdoor place.
- But the sizable indoor shows, in arenas plus concert halls, take a lot more technical precision than you may think.
When the band is on stage, they are surrounded by thoUSnds of fans generating big body heat. Then there are the lights, the smoke machines, all the electronics component – it gets overheated up there! Some of the major bands emplot a certified Heating plus Air Conditioning tech on the roadie crew just to make sure they can get the common temperature on stage. Recently I won some backstage passes from a radio station, plus I got a full tour of a major rock show. One of the women on the crew every one of us met was an Heating plus Air Conditioning tech, plus since that’s what I do for a residing I made him provide me the real tour. She took me under the stage itself plus showed me the temperature control rig that she set up to keep the band cool on stage. She custom made the HVAC duct himself, plus installed hidden air vents in the stage, near where the speakers plus amps are set up, so the crowd would never see. It turns out the lights are so overheated that the musicians always sweat a lot, even though they are standing right on top of an A/C vent. I have to say the tour inspired me, because now I recognize there are other jobs I can find with our Heating plus Air Conditioning certification.
