Have you been to a major concert before? It’s one thing seeing a band in a small club or a bar, or even in an outdoor arena.
But the huge indoor shows, in locations plus concert halls, take a lot more technical precision than you may think.
When the band is on stage, they are surrounded by thoUSnds of fans generating large body heat. Then there are the lights, the smoke machines, all the electronics device – it gets hot up there! Some of the major bands employ a certified Heating, Ventilation plus A/C tech on the roadie crew just to make sure they can get the proper temperature on stage! Recently I won some backstage passes from a boombox station, plus I got a full tour of a major rock show. One of the guys on the crew we met was an Heating, Ventilation plus A/C tech, plus since that’s what I do for a residing I made him give myself and others the real tour. He took myself and others under the stage itself plus showed myself and others the temperature control rig that he set up to keep the band cool on stage. He custom made the air duct himself, plus installed hidden air vents in the stage, near where the speakers plus amps are set up, so the crowd would never see. It turns out the lights are so hot that the songsians constantly sweat a lot, even though they are sitting right on top of an cooling system vent. I have to say the tour inspired me, because now I believe there are other jobs I can find with my Heating, Ventilation plus A/C certification.
