My parents were born and raised in the north.
- I grew up there and then moved to a warmer climate.
I have gotten used to winter being only a few weeks long. I used to own summer and winter clothes. Now I just have a few sets of long pants. I own a system that heats, but it rarely gets used. I typically use the cooling function 90% of the year. I wear shorts and a tank top. I lather sunblock on my face and have totally adjusted to a warmer lifestyle. When I go to visit my parents, it is tough. Their climate is so much colder that it is a shock to the system. Typically I plan to visit in the summertime. It feels like a crisp fall day to me. It is warm, but not hot at all. I don’t want any AC which is good since they don’t have it. One trip I made the huge mistake of visiting during the wintertime. There was snow, ice and a severe windchill. I didn’t have the proper clothing to deal with these harsh temperatures. I forze the whole trip. My parents own a heating system, but they rarely use it. It was cold enough to use the heater but they only had it set to 69 degrees! The gas fireplace barely works too. Frequently it will turn off and neither of my parents notice. When the house is freezing, they just put on coats. They are used to being cold. I bitterly complained teh whole trip and looked forward to my warmer paradise.
