Didn’t realize just how important ductwork cleaning is

There were many times that I was contacted by our HVAC company offering a discount on ductwork cleaning.

Normally, I’d get them around the time most people were into their spring cleaning.

I’m actually a total clean freak so there really isn’t a spring cleaning. I sort of have a schedule where I deep clean quadrants of my home each month on a continuing basis. So there really isn’t a need for spring cleaning. Perhaps that’s why I just ignored those offers for ductwork cleaning. That and the fact that I really didn’t understand how essential ductwork cleaning actually is. Had I realized that, I’d have been getting it done a lot more often. What I didn’t realize was that gravity slowly works on the hanging ductwork. This ends up making the air duct joints gap and allow in dust, dirt and grime. Depending where the ductwork gaps are, the air ducts could be pretty dirty. That was certainly the case with our HVAC ductwork. I found this out when a friend of mine got her air ducts cleaned and just raved about the indoor air quality of her house after. That got me to call for the appointment. But another key to ductwork cleaning is the ductwork resealing. It’s not just to keep out the dust and dirt that was just cleaned out. The ductwork resealing also maximizes the efficiency of the HVAC equipment by reducing the leaks that wast energy. So not only does my house smell super clean and wonderful, we’re going to save more money on the HVAC cooling this summer as well.
