With every challenge and tough time comes some sort of positive. I realize that it’s hard to find the bright spot in something like a pandemic. But it’s there if you look close enough. Getting sent home from the zone controlled HVAC was something that really did change my perspective. I wasn’t particularly enthralled with working from home and being cooped up in the air conditioning. Yet, I saw a different side of my life. Being with my family that much really did something for me. I was so pleased that we took time and consideration for each other in the face of that health crisis. We have 3 kids who range from teen to pre-teen. Prior to the pandemic, I wasn’t so thrilled with the amount of selfishness I saw in their behavior. Yet, that really wasn’t nearly the case when Covid hit. We were all inside the quality heating and air together. And we really did great. But once things started loosening up, the bad behavior came right back. I was particularly disappointed to find the bad HVAC behavior was back. During the height of the pandemic, everyone was on board with the thermostat discipline in order to save money. It just didn’t last once things relaxed. So I decided to simply take that control of the HVAC out of everyone’s hands. I had the HVAC company install a smart thermostat. Now, we are locked out of the manual operation of the thermostat. Well, I have the code but I’m not telling anyone.
