We saw that our city was hosting a marathon a year ago.
We discussed how difficult it was to imagine running that far all at once, but the more we talked, the more we realized we wanted to challenge ourselves and try it.
Our plan was to work up to the endurance and distance required to finish the race. After preparing all year, the marathon day arrived this past weekend. Although it was only Spring, the weather on race day was unseasonably mild. Our paces stayed the same. Both of us were sunburned and hot after the run. We went home and stretched out. Since last summer, we turned on our a/c for the first time. After such an awful day, it was nice to enjoy the air conditioning. For the first time that season, our a/c worked perfectly, since we had just had it diagnosed weeks earlier. While the AC was running, we watched movies and ate pizza. Although I really enjoyed the marathon, I know that one time is enough for me. I enjoyed cooling down more than I did running.
