I honestly was surprised when my wife asked me if I wanted to take some pottery classes with her. When I thought of pottery, I immediately thought of how the clay would have to be fired in a kiln and it made me think it would be extremely overheated in the class. I honestly had no idea though and I was hoping the classes would be comfortable with ideal temperature control settings. It was the summer so I told my wife that the art house we were going to better have the AC system cranked up. I also said they better change their air filters regularly so the air quality remains nice. Well, I don’t know what I was making a big deal about because the art house we went to was actually very pleasant with a nice air conditioning system. I asked the instructor of the class where we would use the kilns for finalizing our pottery and that was actually on the other side of the building. She said it did get really hot when firing the kilns, but it wouldn’t affect us while working on our pottery projects. My wife and I wanted to use the pottery wheel even though it was advised that we start with hand building since we didn’t have a lot of experience with this sort of thing. We did learn how to make some cool pots with the pottery wheel and the unique glaze colors we used were fantastic. Our pots came out rather nicely in my opinion, and I genuinely can’t wait to take the children there next time to see what they come up with.
