One of the reasons why I bought a house that needed repairs was so I could add my own personal touch to the place. I didn’t want something that was the same as everyone else in the neighborhood. I found the small three-bedroom Cottage after looking at real estate for 3 years. The cottage dated a lot of work, but the owner was motivated to sell quickly. I made an offer on the place and it was the right number. We closed about two months later. The house needed a ton of work in the beginning and it was difficult to know exactly where to start. I had a detailed Home Inspection performed by a local company. They listed all of the problems with the house. One of the first places I needed to start was the roof and the flooring. The roof was leaking and the flooring was cracked and warped. The roof was the first project on the list. When it was completed, I started working on the flooring. After making updates to the top and bottom of the house, I wanted to buy a new AC and heat pump. I had spent nearly eight months making all of the repairs to the house and I knew for sure that the heat pump and AC were not working very well. Although I could wait another year or two to make the changes, it seemed silly to wait. Everything else in the house is updated and remodeled. The climate control system was the next item on my to-do list.

I’ve had a few tune-ups performed on the equipment in my home. I know I should have the full system check performed more frequently, but I often forget. I thought it was a sign to have a full system check performed. When the service technician performed the tune-up on the heat pump and AC system, I honestly didn’t expect to hear bad news. After all, the air conditioner was working when the technician arrived. I was surprised to hear that the system needed $500 worth of repairs. The number seemed really high considering the machine was still working and producing cold air. The service technician gave me an estimate for the fees and told me to call if I wanted the work performed. The tune up seemed to help the system for a short amount of time and then I started having even more problems. A month later, I finally broke down and decided to get a second opinion on the heat pump and AC system. Although the second estimate was lower, the repair technician did agree with the first person that looked at the equipment. The guy was surprised the system wasn’t experiencing more malfunctions given the problems.

When my father passed away, I went back home for the first time in 20 years.

My sister wanted me to stay with her, but I decided to get a hotel room instead. I was about 15 minutes away from my sister’s home and 30 minutes away from the cemetery. I helped my sister make all of the plans, but I told her that I was not planning to attend the funeral. I was only there to help my sister take care of everything. She was really upset, but she understood why I didn’t want to attend the services. My father was the reason why I had not been home in two decades. The first day I was back in town, my sister and I spent all day working on preparations. By the time I got back to the hotel, I was ready for a long night of rest. The HVAC unit had other ideas for me. It was extremely loud and noisy. I called the front desk clerk to complain about the sound of the AC unit. The guy told me it was normal. His solution to fix the problem with the noisy HVAC system was to bring me a fan that would drown out the noise of the HVAC unit. While I appreciated the offer, it was an absolutely ridiculous idea. After three nights in the hotel, I decided to check out a day early. I stayed one night with my sister. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The next day, I flew back home.

My wife and I live in a part of the country where we regularly see snow during the winter months. It’s not unusual to get two or three feet of accumulation throughout the months of January and February. My wife and I have to commute everyday to work. I have a 25 minute drive, but my wife has a much longer 40 minute commute to and from work. It’s important that the car works well. I have regular maintenance and service performed. When the temperatures are cold, regular maintenance on the furnace at home is important too. My wife and I have a trusted HVAC company that we use for all of our heating and air conditioning needs. The company has been in business for a long time and the owner of the company went to school with my dad. Last year when we had the tune up performed, the contractor mentioned buying a ductless heater for the garage. The ductless hater would keep our cars from icing up and help the engines run better when the temperatures are below freezing. At the time, I didn’t think much about the ductless heater. I wasn’t interested in spending a ton of money. The first time we had temperatures over night that were freezing, I had trouble starting the car. I immediately thought about the ductless heater options that the HVAC technician offered. I called the guy to discuss adding the ductless heater to the garage. A week later, we added a ductless heater to the garage to keep the cars from icing up overnight.

I completely forgot that my boyfriend scheduled a tune-up on the HVAC system in our home.

I was supposed to be home at the time, but I completely forgot and spaced out.

My boyfriend called me about a half an hour before the appointment. He wanted to remind me that the guy was on the way. As soon as I heard my boyfriend’s voice, I remembered the appointment. I immediately jumped into the car and started driving back to the house. I tried to get home before the repair appointment. I was pulling into the neighborhood when I saw an HVAC repair truck driving through the neighborhood. Since the repair truck belonged to the same company that my boyfriend called, I decided to flag down the individual. I parked my car in front of the entrance so the guy could not leave without speaking to me first. The HVAC technician thought my behavior was terribly odd, especially since he was not the technician assigned to our residential repair. He did contact the HVAC repair company to see if my repair technician was on the way. Thankfully the guy was held up in traffic and still about 15 minutes away from the address. I thanked the other technician for his help and hurried back to the house. The system tune-up didn’t take very long at all. The repair technician was in and out of the house in less than an hour. He left a copy of the diagnostic sheet that he used during the tune up. The service seemed to be very thorough. My boyfriend never knew that I almost missed the appointment because I forgot.

My mom called me last Monday, because she thought a rat was inside of the ductwork.

I told my mom that it was unlikely, but she insisted that I come over after work to check it out.

When I arrived, I started looking at the heat pump and the ductwork. I used a really bright flashlight to see inside of the ductwork. I saw no evidence of rats or mice. I didn’t even see any evidence of bugs like cockroaches, termites, or ants. My mom told me about a loud sound that she kept hearing at night. When she started to describe the sound, I didn’t think it seemed like a ductwork problem at all. I believed it sounded like an issue with a heat pump. Unfortunately, heat pumps and electricity are not my area of expertise. I could have helped my mom with a pest control problem, but I didn’t know the first thing about the heat pump. I knew it was best to leave the work to a professional and certified expert. I found a local heating company that offers free estimates and I gave them a call for my mom. Waited until the repair service arrived so I could find out what they thought about the problem. They agreed that the sounds were likely coming from the heat pump and not the ductwork. They performed a full system service tune up that included cleaning all of the electrical and mechanical parts of the system. Hopefully the system will run better now that it has been serviced and cleaned.

I wondered how they found out about the problem in the first place, because I had been at work all day and I live by myself.

I always have to work all day on Fridays and Saturdays. I know these are the busiest days of the week at the movie theater. I’m not surprised that the boss makes us work both of the days. Everyone that works at the theater is required to work Saturdays and Fridays. Last weekend the theater was extremely busy. The last show didn’t end until almost 2 in the morning. After I got done cleaning the theaters, it was 3 a.m. by the time I got home. The first thing I saw was a note on my apartment door. It was from the maintenance supervisor. The maintenance supervisor wanted me to know that the AC was not working properly but that they would fix the problem the next day. I was very upset and angry when I saw the note on the door. I didn’t know anything about the AC repair and no one contacted me. I wondered how they found out about the problem in the first place, because I had been at work all day and I live by myself. I couldn’t sleep much at all, because there was no cool air in the house. The next morning I woke up and contacted the manager. She told me that the issue with the AC was in the pole building and promised that they would fix the problem that day or she would pay for me to spend the night at a hotel. I agreed to give them some time to fix the problem when she made that deal.

Occasionally, I will be in the part to visit my Grandparents.

I don’t have the best relationship with them, and that is because of a feud between my parents and them. As a child, I almost never saw them because of my parents, so now that I am an adult, I am trying to make up for lost time. Anyways, a little before I came down to visit them, my Grandma called and asked about the cooling machine. She was asking for advice on the air conditioning unit and how to possibly repair it. I tried to explain over the PC, but there were nothing but issues. So when I finally came to see them, I agreed to look at the Heating and A/C device as well. We had a fantastic time, and they told me lots of stories from their time, but just as I was about ready to leave, I decided to take a brief look at their Heating and A/C machine. As soon as I looked at it, I could tell the issue. I hate to even guess how old that oil furnace plan was, but I would say someplace from 25-30 years. I was easily amazed that they still had such an aged model. There was no way I was going to have them go without Heating and A/C, but I also couldn’t afford a modern a/c unit myself. Instead, I headed down to the local a/c business, and I purchased a portable air conditioning plan to supply them. This seemed to do the trick and I am easily glad I was able to help them.

I moved down to the south when I went to school, and I have never regretted it. Anyways, I was enjoying great in a chair, when my aunt called me. I picked up and it turns out her vehicle broke down and since she had nothing to do while waiting for the tow truck, she decided to call me and see how I was doing. We talked for a little while, which eventually drifted to the weather. Whenever I talk to my relatives in the north, the weather almost regularly comes up without fail. This time, my aunt was talking about how it was supposed to snow all week, and how she was hating every minute of it. When my aunt started talking about the weather, I knew she was going to be ranting for a while. I don’t recognize why she doesn’t just transport to the south, but she says she has too old. Anyways, hearing her continuously rant from the PC just made me grateful to live where I currently live, and yes, it can get overheated here sometimes, but the chilly is undoubtedly tolerable. I just continued to sip my overheated chocolate and listen to her rant. Eventually our conversation drifted to gas furnaces, and I told her since she didn’t want to move, she could regularly try getting a modern Heating and A/C system. Her heating system wasn’t in nice condition, and this could be a solution to her chilly issues. She told me she liked the method of a modern oil furnace, and she would undoubtedly talk to a heating specialist about it.
