When I first moved into my current apartment, I wasn’t expecting much.
How could I? The apartment wasn’t in a good area, nor was it very expensive to rent.
So I already knew that I probably shouldn’t have high expectations. And I was right. There was always a slight smell in the place. I ended up finding out the smell came from the heating and air conditioning machine, it had a clog, and then once the clog was taken care of, the smell vanished. There were a bunch of chips and random cracks in the walls and ceilings, and overall, the area was not in good shape. But speaking of heating and cooling, don’t even get me started on the thermostat. The thermostat was an old dial thermostat, and was just a mess. It never worked, and although the A/C machine was fine, since the thermostat was having issues, the A/C machine was practically useless. I decided enough was enough, and I ended up upgrading to a smart thermostat. The smart thermostat is the best wifi thermostat, and it was just fantastic. I was super happy with the upgrade. However, on the next random visit to my apartment, would you believe the landlord had the nerve to complain about the smart thermostat? Even though it was literally better and improved the place. I was planning on leaving it, but fine, I’ll just make sure I take the new programmable thermostat with me when I move out in a few months.
