Getting through winter with an old wood stove

It seems as though the furnace is not able to cope with the cold.

Winters in this region can be unforgiving and freezing. Temperatures often drop to beyond zero real quick. I loved it when I was a bit younger but this has since changed especially after I became a responsible adult. Between shoveling the snow to get to my parked car every morning, and having to endure the icy weather, I have to keep up with the monthly heating bills. Sometimes everything takes a toll on me and I wish to simply leave it all behind and move to a new state with no winter. Unfortunately I run a family bakery business that I inherited from my parents. This has been part of our legacy for years and there was no way I was going to let everyone else down by ditching it because of the cold. Fortunately, the HVAC company that services both our home and business heating and cooling system has always been good to me. They come in early to ensure that the HVAC equipment is ready for any kind of weather. However, the past 3 years have been too harsh in winter. It seems as though the furnace is not able to cope with the cold. After talking to the HVAC professional during the last maintenance servicing, he advised me to find a heating source that can supplement the main heating unit. Options included getting a space heater for each room, or better still invest in a wood stove which can heat the whole house. I opted to settle with the wood stove since I had plenty of wood down at our forest land and getting the fuel won’t be an issue. Since we started doing this, the house is no longer as cold even when there is a snow storm.
