We seldom get tornadoes in this area, but when the wind blows from all directions, Ed and I make sure to keep our ears and eyes open.
- The sky takes on a sinister and unmistakable hue which can only lead to awful weather conditions.
When the wind blows strenuously and the leaves turn inside out, my Grandmother said to take cover. This was one of those big storms. My dad told us to stay close to the cabin and to keep an eye on the sky. I was about five miles from the household when I heard the tornado warnings going off. I could see a big tornado funnel out my rear window, and I sped up. I remembered this film about people chasing storms, and at one point the girl said they had cows. I looked out my window and I had an a/c unit. The air conditioner component was skidding down the road, and I wanted to make sure it didn’t collide with my truck. The tornado seemed to be taking the same path as the air conditioner, which was following my path. I was terrified that the tornado would occasion me up and send me flying, but it didn’t happen. All I had was that air conditioner component following me down the road, and tumbling across the road across my neighbor’s front yard. This storm was actually more unusual than any tornado I had ever experienced. When I got into the house, my dad asked if I had seen the a/c unit that flew into our neighbor’s yard. I told him I hadn’t just seen it, but it chased me down the road for close to a mile.
