I’ve been hvac technician for the past 10 years now.
I did go through some technical school and had to take multiple tests for certifications.
I’ve been with the same company now for a while and I really like my job. The benefits are great and you meet a lot of interesting people. I’ve probably dealt with over hundreds of people. I’ve been in small homes, large homes, homes that were really dirty and homes that were really clean. I always know how the hvac system is going to look and operate by the inside of someone’s home. It seems like the dirtier the home, the worst the hvac system is and most of the time that’s the reason why they are calling me, so I can service their hvac system and find why it’s not functioning properly. I’ve come up with a direct correlation that the people who do not normally straighten up or clean their home, they’re the ones probably not changing the air filters on the hvac system as much as they should or calling an hvac technician yearly to inspect it. It’s extremely important that people vacuum, mop and sweep their house, because certain hvac systems will take the air that is already in your home pull it into the hvac system and release it through the air registers. If you have a dirty home to begin with and it’s pulling the dirty air into the system, it’s going to eventually fail if the air filter is not changed. The longer you not change it, the more it’s going to be clogged up resulting in your hvac system working harder than it’s supposed to.
