My youngsters are really picky about their living arrangements.
They want their own rooms, washrooms, and they want their kitchens and washrooms to be decorated a particular way.
They’ve also been genuinely into the thermostat settings for some reason… Each of my children has a weird temperature preference and they each feel entitled to their preference. I’m not sure where they got this sense of entitlement over the thermostat, but it’s become a real issue. My spouse and I are always telling them that they can’t touch the thermostat settings and we’re always resetting the thermostat back to what it’s programmed to. We’ve tried educating them on Heating, Ventilation, and A/C systems and energy, but they don’t fully understand. My spouse even sat down with the yearly utility bill and showed them what a normal one looked like and what an abnormally high one looked like. Our kids aren’t the ones paying it, so I don’t know it fully set in. It’s hard to tell who’s changing the temperature because they’re quick and sneaky. When I returned home from labor the other day, the blower was running non-stop. When I looked at the thermostat I observed that someone turned the fan on accidentally and there’s no telling how long it was running. I demanded my kids to tell me which one of them did it, but nobody owned up to it. My spouse told them that until they could admit who did it, they’d be paying the utility bills out of their allowance until it was paid off… Nobody has come forward yet, but nobody has touched the thermostat again either.
