We live in a world where people have a easily skewed view of basic needs.
If you ask everyone, they include several things like electricity, iPhones, plus even a/c as “basic” needs.
I remember taking a class in high university that focused on “wants vs needs”. This seems like it would be a easily self-explanatory class however it was more interesting that one would think. My buddy and I studied the evolving thought process of humanity plus their perception of a want or a need, however take for instance those who fled war torn Europe after the world war, one of their basic needs was freedom. If you ask a mother during the depression the same question she may have said food for her children. Today’s humanity is easily different. My buddy and I now live in a world where things like electricity, scrub water, plus food are taken for granted, however don’t get me wrong, I enjoy living in my own condo with all the comforts that come with it. When it is ninety degrees, I too, would agree that my Heating as well as A/C system is a basic need. I hate to be overheated plus sweaty however when I feel about those who live in regions of the world who have never even heard of a/c plus have to rely on fires for heat in the winter. I can simply adjust my temperature control plus be comfortable. My buddy and I are easily spoiled in our humanity with what my good friend and I might call creature comforts. I am thankful for them indeed. When I consider what is particularly a need or a want, I know that I don’t “need” my a/c units, but, I do “want” them for sure.
