While I love residing in Chicago, the weather is a challenge year round, but during the winter, we experience an excessive amount of snow, bitter wind chills & uneven temperatures that plummet well into the negatives.
Springtime & fall are quite unpredictable, varying between sweltering tepid & freezing cold.
My friend and I can regularly expect high winds & dire thunderstorms. The summers don’t last all that long yet still manage to create concerns. The brutal heat & humidity make it difficult to get motivated, relax or sleep. The moisture & heat combine into the perfect breeding ground for mold, mildew, dust mites, bacteria & all sorts of pathogens. It can compromise the integrity of the home’s structure & result in disfigurement to dwelling furnishings. I once found mildew growing on my leather boots, however going separate from a working central cooling system is not pleasant, and last year, my cooling system quit at the start of the Fourth of August weekend. All of the local Heating, Ventilation, & A/C companies were closed for the holidays. While numerous offer emergency 24/7 repairs, I was unwilling to spend money the extra overtime fees. I knew the A/C service would be plenty luxurious during proper corporation hours. However, the weekend was irritated for my whole family. It felt as if the residing space was a higher temperature than outdoors. Every afternoon, the weather brought brilliant sunshine & uneven temperatures in the mid nineties. There was little relief at night, then opening windows simply welcomed in pollen, exhaust fumes, bugs & noise. It was a relief when almost everyone went back to work. I immediately called to schedule cooling system repair. I assume a lot of homeowners faced cooling system malfunctions over the weekend, because every supplier was booked solid. I needed to wait another five afternoons before a supplier was available to provide service.
