Taught kids about HVAC systems; daughter doesn’t take any garbage

Sometimes I look at my children and I just feel so proud.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s no major feat to reproduce and I don’t think that people should pat themselves on the back for bringing additional humans into the world.

That being said, I happen to think that I created and raised some particularly fine little humans myself. When they were kids I didn’t spare my children from a lot of important life lessons. This extended all the way to budgeting and maintaining for your high quality indoor air handling devices. I never wanted my children to feel like they were blindsided by a high energy bill or confused by the normal operations of a central heating, cooling, and ventilation system. I figured it was important to have some basic HVAC maintenance and repair skills under their belts before they ever moved out on their own. This is the only way to ensure that they aren’t dealing with ridiculously high utilities and continual HVAC repair appointments. Let me tell you, I am so glad that I gave them this HVAC crash course. My daughter called me yesterday to tell me that she just had the most infuriating heating and cooling repair appointment of her life. Apparently, this HVAC tech tried to force her to upgrade her entire central cooling system rather than making the necessary repairs. Thanks to my early education and heating and cooling devices my daughter wasn’t taking any of it. She promptly fired the HVAC tech and hired a new HVAC company for a second opinion. This time, the air quality control specialist simply did his job without trying to take advantage. That’s my girl.
