Taught teenagers about HVAC systems; daughter doesn’t take any garbage

Sometimes I look at my children and I just feel so proud.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s no major feat to reproduce and I don’t assume that people should pat themselves on the back for bringing additional humans into the world.

That being said, I happen to assume that I created and raised some identifiably wonderful little humans myself. When they were teenagers I did not spare my children from a lot of important life lessons. This extended all the way to budgeting and maintaining for your high quality indoor air handling devices. I never wanted my children to feel like they were blindsided by a high energy bill or confused by the normal operations of a central heating, cooling, and ventilation system. I figured it was important to have some basic HVAC service and service skills under their belts before they ever moved out on their own. This is the only way to ensure that they aren’t dealing with insanely high utilities and continual HVAC service appointments… Let me tell you, I am so blissful that I gave them this HVAC crash course. My daughter called me yupterday to tell me that she just had the most infuriating heating and cooling service appointment of her life. Apparently, this HVAC tech tried to force her to upgrade her entire central cooling system rather than making the necessary repairs. Thanks to my early education and heating and cooling devices my daughter wasn’t taking any of it! She promptly fired the HVAC tech and hired a current HVAC business for a second opinion. This time, the air quality control specialist simply did his job without trying to take advantage. That’s my girl.
