I avoided the midlife crisis by teaching at school

I’m finding that getting older is depressing.

Honestly, it’s hard to see yourself age. I didn’t think that I would ever find myself turning into the sort of person who was desperately clinging to youth, but here we are, clinging away. It’s more pathetic than I thought. I never thought I would have a midlife crisis, but the signs are getting brighter all the time. New car, new haircut, new house… Luckily for me, I went into an industry – the air quality control field – that I love. When I was young I jumped right into HVAC repair school and never looked back. For the most part, I’ve been happy with what I do as a professional heating, cooling, and ventilation technician. But truthfully, I’ve always wished that I had tried harder to fulfill my bigger heating and cooling dreams. I really want to help other people with HVAC. As a professional heating, cooling, and ventilation technician I appreciate the daily work. It’s nice that I also never have to doubt the impact that I make in people’s lives, because I can feel the relief from clients after I fix their busted heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. But, still, I wish I had pursued a more important role in the heating, cooling, and air quality control field. I could have been an HVAC training mentor or AC repair teacher, to change the future HVAC industry for good. That’s why I went to the local trade school and asked about their heating and cooling repair classes last month. Now, I’m finally teaching the next generation about indoor air quality control devices… but their youth actually makes me feel older.
