Someone bought the old drive-in movie theater outside of town to renovate and reopen.
That place has been there my whole life, and I’ve never seen a movie there. I have visited the place several times, because it was a great place to go with my high school pals to drink and flirt with girls. Now it is decked out with neon and looks just like it must have looked back in the 70s. Going to a drive-in movie is a neat experience, but there are definitely some issues I have with it. To really enjoy the movie you need the A/C running, which means the engine needs to be idling, and have you seen the price of gas these days? It’s too dang expensive to run it for two or three hours with the air conditioning blasting the whole time. The only people who can afford to go and not worry about the gas or the AC issues are the folks who have electric cars. Although the drive-in looks like it used to, there are new features like electric outlets for cars, and an air conditioned lounge where you can buy alcoholic drinks. The lounge is a nice feature, but they don’t want people to hang out in the air conditioning all night, you are supposed to get your drinks and go back to the car. On a hot summer night, trying to sit in a car with no A/C is like climbing into a wet sauna, so maybe I will just stick to going to the indoor movie theater.
