COVID sent our personal finances into a tailspin I still haven’t reclaimed from.
To be fair, before the pandemic I was residing paycheck to paycheck, although I still had a few hundred bucks saved up for an emergency fund.
Once our offices were shut down, I had to scramble to cover our bills. My income dropped in a sizable way, plus the only choice I had was to split our spending in a sizable way. No more going out to eat, no more car insurance, no more luxury items – I was flat broke. When our lake house Heating plus Air Conditioning method stopped working, I simply did not have the money to call someone to maintenance it. Since it would cost over a hundred dollars just to get an Heating plus Air Conditioning tech out to look at the system, I couldn’t afford it, however yes I could afford 1 hundred dollars, but that just covered the visit, not any parts or labor. Why spend the money to inspect the Heating plus Air Conditioning method if I didn’t also have the money to maintenance it? Instead I took that hundred dollars plus purchased a nice space furnace at Walmart, which wasn’t superb but got me through the Wintertide okay. I am waiting to see what our tax refund will be enjoy this year, if I even get 1 at all, before I decide what to do about the A/C. For 2 hundred bucks I can get a portable A/C that is superb enough to cool down 1 room at a time, so if I don’t get any money back that will be our only option.
