I have recently discovered that boiler systems are the most amazing pieces of heating equipment out there.
I got my forever home recently and had a whole bunch of changes I wanted to make to it.
The one thing I wanted to go was the boiler system. It took up the vast majority of my basement, was rusted and ugly. Unfortunately buying a new heating system is so expensive. I had other priorities inside the house. I needed to replace rotting drywall and fix a plumbing issue. I also wanted new lights and windows more than a heater. I am so thankful that I didn’t replace the heater right away. After going through a winter season with a boiler, I will never own another heater. My boiler is so awesome. It can handle sub zero temperatures without a hitch. It never complains either. I give it no heating service or repairs and it still runs. I did some googling online and boilers can live over 50 years too. The only reason people lose out on their boilers is that they are so old that replacement parts are no longer made. I also found there are lots of things boilers can do. You can hook piping up to them and install it into the floors. Now you have hydronic heated floors. You can have towel heaters, a home water heater, snowmelt system or even a pool heater with this system. It is so versatile and powerful. The boiler has already lasted a few years in the house without showing any signs of stopping. I will someday replace it with another boiler system.
