When it comes to the importance of printing services, I can only speak from personal experience. This was a few years ago, when my friend Pat and I opened up a small video rental store. All the Blockbuster stores were closed, and although there was a Redbox on every corner, we knew there was still some money to be made. We rented a corner area inside a gas station, and set up a stand, and a few racks of DVDs and Blu Rays. We could only turn a profit by keeping overhead very low, and this is where printing services came in clutch, and helped us make money. We were lucky to know people, and Pat was in a rock band with a guy who worked the overnight shift at a local printing company. Pat was able to go into the printers when no one else was there, and his friend printed all kinds of free signs and graphics for us. We need special printing for the shelf liners that advertised our prices, and needed clinging graphics to put on the windows and doors. I would say that in the first three months we got two thousand dollars worth of printing for free, and then Pat’s friend lost his job. His bosses at the printing company found out about how much free stuff he was giving us, and they fired him. We would have liked to hire him, but we didn’t have enough money to pay him, especially now that we would have to start paying for all of our printing.
