I am an HVAC technician, but someone stole all the tools that I use to work on HVAC units.
I can’t believe that someone stole all of my tools while I was working on an HVAC unit. If there is anything that I have learned from working as an HVAC technician, it is that you cannot trust other contractors to be alone with your tools. When HVAC technicians are installing HVAC units in a new house, they are typically working alongside other contractors. HVAC technicians might work alongside electricians, carpenters, plumbers, etc. It is quicker and more efficient for the person buying the home to hire these people to work at the same time. Honestly, it is pretty cool to work with the other contractors in town, and you get to make friends that way. However, this does not mean that you should blindly trust the other contractors. In my experience, I have had more stuff stolen from other contractors than from any other group of people, and this is sad. Most of the tools that HVAC technicians use are the same tools that other contractors use, and the HVAC technicians, along with the contractors, are responsible for purchasing their own tools. Since tools are not cheap, people like to steal them. The HVAC technicians have a habit of putting their names on the tools to try to avoid getting their stuff stolen, but it does not always work. For instance, I left my tools alone for a few minutes while I was helping the other HVAC technician carry a furnace, and when I got back, my tools were stolen. I don’t know who did it, but I definitely must buy new tools.
