We waited until our kids were on their own before we decided to build our house.
This would be the one time we could do it so, we went for it.
However, we’d never been able to afford it if we hadn’t gotten so much money when we sold the family home. There were some upgrades done prior to selling the house. We redid the kitchen and also updated the residential HVAC. Let me tell you, we got the latest in residential HVAC in that upgrade. It made it even tougher for me to move out. But this was a good thing because we got to meet a really great HVAC contractor. And when we chose to build a custom home, we knew exactly who we wanted handling the heating and cooling. So when we started interviewing general contractors, it was essential that we had a say in the subcontractors. That was fine with the guy we settled on. He was a smaller builder who pretty much kept it simple as far as trying to do multiple projects at once. That was great because our home got the attention it deserved. It also got the quality heating and air that we wanted as well. The HVAC contractor who did the upgrade on the HVAC unit at our old place was just so on top of his game with our new house. This HVAC professional really listened to what we wanted when it came to our heating and cooling needs. Turns out, he listened really, really well because we have the best residential HVAC we have ever experienced in our new house.
