Well she was right.
I thought she was absolutely wrong but the realtor was right about the HVAC equipment.
We live in a region where the heat is the main culprit when it comes to weather. So there is a big focus on HVAC cooling. Of course, the heat pump is totally the king around these parts. And why not? The heat pump was actually designed for cooling places. The way the heat pump works is by being able to move heat energy from one place to another. In the case of residential HVAC, that would mean moving the heat out of the house so cooler air can take its place. With the fact that our big HVAC challenge is heat and humidity, the heat pump is just the right HVAC equipment for the job. Well when we decided to put the house on the market, I figured the heat pump was good. It was not quite 15 years old and I figured it had another decade in it at the very least. I had signed up for the HVAC service plan from the very first once that heating and cooling equipment was installed. But one of the first things the realtor told us was that the HVAC equipment had to be upgraded. I was really resistant. But this realtor was such a pro that she came back to show me the data. And the comps were right there in front of me showing that the latest in residential HVAC was a huge selling point. Turned out that the cost outlay for new HVAC equipment put our house over the top and we got top dollar with the final sale price.
